SLU Men's Soccer Attendance Leads Nation

Vedad Ibisevic

The Saint Louis University men's soccer program led all NCAA Division I programs in average attendance during the 2003 season. The Billikens averaged 2,779 fans for nine home dates at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on the University campus. The Billikens, traditionally one of the nation's top collegiate soccer attractions, have led the nation in average attendance three of the last four seasons.

Louisville earned its first-ever top 10 ranking in men's soccer attendance, finishing 10th. The Cardinals averaged 1,379 fans per game for their nine dates at Cardinal Park.

"Consistently being ranked among the nation's top programs in attendance is a tribute to our loyal fan base along with our marketing and event management staff," said Billikens head coach Dan Donigan. "We believe that our attendance could be even better in 2004 with a home schedule that features defending national champion Indiana and other national and regional powers."

The Billikens were among the nation's top 10 in average attendance throughout the 1990s, and this is the third time that they have led the country during the past five years. The Billikens also led the nation during the first year at the newly renovated Hermann Stadium by averaging 2,784 fans per game during the 1999 season and again in 2001 by averaging 2,870.
