BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team dropped its opening round game of the 2007 Conference USA Men's Soccer Tournament to nation's ninth-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 1-0, Thursday afternoon at West Campus Field. The match, which was scheduled for Wednesday evening, was postponed until Thursday due to inclement weather.

The eighth-seeded Blazers concluded their season with an overall record of 7-11-1. Tulsa, who earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament, improves its record to 13-2-2 and moves on to face fourth-seeded South Carolina Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the second semifinal match of the day.

The first semifinal match will feature No. 6 Marshall taking on No. 7 Florida International in a 5:00 p.m. contest.

The lone goal of the game came during the ninth minute when Tulsa's Eric DeFreitas put away his seventh score of the season to put the Golden Hurricane up, 1-0.

Tulsa tallied 13 shots during the game and held UAB to just three shots, including one on goal. The Golden Hurricane also held a 5-3 advantage over the Blazers n corner kicks.

UAB's lone senior Joe Klosterman accounted for two of the Blazers' shots, while junior Dejan Jakovic was credited with one shot.

Ashley McInnes paced Tulsa with four shots, followed by DeFreitas with three and Joe Salem with two.

Tyrel Lacey got the win in goal for the Golden Hurricane by grabbing one save throughout 90 minutes. Carl Woszczynski received the loss for the Blazers, allowing one goal and tallying a pair of saves against Tulsa.
