Charlotte Baseball Hires Brandon Hall As Assistant Coach
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball program has hired former UNC Wilmington assistant coach Brandon Hall as their pitching coach. Hall replaces Greg Brummett, who has left the 49ers and joined the coaching staff at the Air Force Academy.
"I am really excited about joining the coaching staff at Charlotte," Hall said. "Coach Loren Hibbs has a done a great job here over the past ten years. I am grateful for the opportunity that Charlotte and Coach Hibbs have given me. I feel that we have a chance to be a consistent force on the national level."
Hall has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater UNC Wilmington. Last season, he served as pitching coach. The three previous years, he served as assistant pitching coach and bullpen coach.
The Raleigh, N.C., native was a two-year letterwinner as a pitcher at UNC Wilmington. He won seven games and had a 3.87 ERA in two seasons on the mound. However, his playing career was cut short due to a shoulder injury that led him to join the Seahawks coaching staff.
In his four years on the coaching staff, the pitching staff finished each season ranked among the top 30 nationally in team ERA. In 2001, UNC Wilmington finished fourth in the nation with a 3.20 team ERA. In 2002, UNC Wilmington's pitching staff finished 25th in the country with a 3.95 team ERA.
Hall also spent two summers on the coaching staff of the Wilson Tobs in the Coastal Plains League. In 2001, he served as the Wilson Tobs' manager and guided the team to a berth in the Coastal Plains League Finals.
Hall graduated from UNC Wilmington in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing and a minor in computer science.
"Brandon Hall is from North Carolina, so he is familar with the baseball in the state," Hibbs said. "He has done a great job with the pitching staff at UNC Wilmington over the last couple of years. He will be a tremendous addition to our coaching staff."
