UH's Sullivan, Tulane's Jurries Named All-Americans

A pair of Conference USA players were named to the Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball All-American team, it was announced recently. Houston sophomore righthander Brad Sullivan was named a First Team All-American, while Tulane senior infielder James Jurries was selected as a Second team All-American.
Sullivan has led the regular season Conference USA champion Cougars into the NCAA Super Regional at Austin, Texas with a brilliant sophomore campaign. He is 12-1 with a 1.93 ERA and has established new school and conference records with 151 strikeouts. The Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, Sullivan has thrown three shutouts and five complete games, while logging a league-high 121 1/3 innings. Three times this season Sullivan was honored as a national player of the week.
Jurries closed out his brilliant Green Wave career this past weekend at the Baton Rouge Regional, his fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship. He finished third in batting this season in C-USA at .400 and led the league in slugging percentage (.765), runs scored (77), runs batted in (74), home runs (20) and total bases (180). The 2002 Conference USA Player of the Year and a four-time all-C-USA selection, Jurries also recorded 16 doubles and four triples, while stealing 30 bases (tied for second in the league). He closes out his career as Conference USA’s all-time leader in runs scored (284) and total bases (617), while ranking second in hits (343), triples (11), home runs (62), RBI (261) and fourth in at-bats (4th-954) and doubles (66).
