ECU Women Conclude Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The East Carolina women`s track team turned in a solid performance today as they completed day one of the 108th running of the Penn Relays.

Junior Colleen McGinn led the Pirates as she finished second in the College Women`s Division in the high jump clearing five feet, five inches. Senior Crystal Frye finished fourth in the College Women`s shot put with her mark of 46 feet, nine inches, while freshman Krystel Pabey finished fifth in the College Women`s javelin with her throw of 138 feet, five inches.

On the track, the Pirates competed in both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. Freshman Terri Davenport, freshman Darneshea Jones, sophomore Estrella Coppin and junior Shirena James combined in the 4x100 to finish sixth in their heat in 48.24 seconds. Senior Toshima Dabbs, sophomore Aspen Powell, Coppin, and Davenport teamed up in the 4x400 finishing eighth in their heat in 3:54.07. Neither team advances to the finals.
