Clarke Selected Conference USA Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week

University of Houston junior pole vaulter Rhian Clarke has been chosen the Conference USA women's track and field Athlete of the Week.

Clarke automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships with a season-best vault of 13'05.25 at the Texas Relays on April 7. She finished third at the Texas Relays and her vault is the best in Conference USA this season.

Her vault also places her in a put her in a five-way tie with Andrea Dutoit, Amy Linnen, Michelle Legegett and Julian Schwartz of Arizona State for second place among NCAA leaders by Trackwire Magazine.

Clarke earned All-American honors with a fourth-place finish at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships and a seventh-place finish at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

She will be competing with Houston's men's and women's track and field teams at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational on Saturday, April 14, in Baton Rouge, La.
