NOTING C-USA MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
CHARLOTTE was led by thrower MATT RAUSCH at the Duke Invitational this past weekend. Rausch shattered his own record in the hammer throw with a toss of 198'10. Twann Atkins finished the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09 to finish third in the event. His time of 14.09 was a record-breaking time. The 49ers return to action April 14, hosting the Charlotte Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center. CINCINNATI finished second at the Indiana Invitational last Saturday. The men's team earned four first place finishes which totaled 117 points. Senior CHRIS CAMFIELD won his first career 3,000-meter steeplechase title crossing the finish line in 9:26.79, his personal best. CHRIS REISS won the individual title in the 5,000-meters (15:05.65), while JARED BURKHOLDER was the top Bearcat in the high jump (7'00.25). The Bearcats are in action next at the Miami Invitational on Saturday in Oxford, Ohio. HOUSTON competed at the Texas Relays this past weekend in Austin, Texas. JEFF MUELLER finished third in the high jump with a season-best leap of 7'00.25. ADAM CALLAHAN finished sixth in the high jump (6'09'00), while ALEX HERRMANN turned in an eighth place finish in the decathlon with 6,844 points. LOUISVILLE won the inaugural track meet at Cardinal Park over the weekend. ZEK PARKER won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.72 and the long jump with a leap of 22'00.75. STANLEY TANNYHILL won the triple jump with a mark of 46'00.00. The Cardinals travel to the Miami Invite Saturday in Oxford, Ohio. MARQUETTE took second place at the Cardinal Challenge hosted by Louisville last Saturday. Sophomore NIC WUCHERER won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.21. He also placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.80. The Golden Eagles take the field next Thursday at the Sea Rays Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. MEMPHIS participated at the Tulane Invitational last Saturday. Senior LARRY CRAWFORD won the 100-meters with a season-best time (10.46) and placed second in the 200-meters (21.03) .01 seconds behind Calvin Lewis, the unattached runner who won the event. SOUTHERN MISS competed in the Tulane Invitational over the weekend. Senior EMMANUEL OSABUTEY finished first in the long jump with a leap of 25'00, his season and personal best. WENSTON RILEY improved his time in the 100 and 200 meters. KENNY JOHNSON turned in a season best performance in the 400-meters (49.07). The Golden Eagles take the field again at the LSU Invitational on Saturday. TULANE collected 18 first and second place finishes at its own Invitational last Saturday. The Green Wave is ranked 18 in the most recent Trackwire rankings. NOEL COMRIE leaped 53'00.25 in the triple jump to set a new school record and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.
