Rice's DiSesa To Face UCLA's Lin In NCAA Singles Championships

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Rice senior Blair DiSesa is scheduled to face UCLA's Tracy Lin in the first round of the NCAA singles championships on Wednesday at 1:30 pm (CDT) on the campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

DiSesa, ranked 78th nationally by the ITA, is the 2006 Conference USA player of the year after leading the Owls to their first-ever league title. She led the team with a 24 singles victories in 2005-06 including her 15-9 mark at the top of the Rice lineup. DiSesa also ranks fifth all-time at Rice with 92 career singles victories. The NCAA singles championships bid is the first for an Owl since 1986.

Lin has a 29-11 singles mark and played primarily at the three position for the Bruins. She is ranked 46th nationally by the ITA. UCLA advanced to the NCAA team championships round of 16 before losing to Florida 4-3.

The 2006 NCAA Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles Championships continue through Monday.
