UCF's Davis Wins Pennsylvania State Open Golf Title
Aug. 17, 2006 Kyle Davis birdied two of the last three holes and wrapped up the Pennsylvania Golf Association's 90th State Open Championship yesterday at the Nemacolin at Woodlands Resort in Farmington. Davis, a 20-year old lefthander from Kennett Square who will be a sophomore at the University of Central Florida next month, finished the 54-hole event with a final-round 3-under-par 69 and a 6-under total of 210. Davis beat runner-up and defending champ Sean Farren of Oakmont by 4 strokes. "To get another win this summer is great," said Davis, who earlier captured the Golf Association of Philadelphia's Amateur Championship and has qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship. "I've played so well that I knew if I kept putting myself into position it would turn over." Davis was a member of the 2006 Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
