TCU Men’s Golf Tied for 11th After First Day of Play at the NCAA Regionals

TCU is 12 strokes off the pace after firing an opening-day team total of 287 at the NCAA Central Regional at the Colbert Hills Golf Course (par 72, 7228 yards) in Manhattan, Kansas. Illinois is the overall team leader after carding a 13-under 275. The top 10 teams will advance to the NCAA Championship (May 27-30) at the Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State University.

The Horned Frogs were led by Colby Beckstrom, who shot a three-under par 69 in the first round and is tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard. Conference USA Player of the Year, Adam Rubinson, is in the clubhouse after a first day one-under par 71, tying him for 30th.

Houston’s Brett Callas and Louisville’s Brett Jones are among the individual competitors in the regional field. Callas also carded a one-under par 71, five strokes behind the indvidual leader, while Jones fired a three-over par 75 in the first round. N.C. State’s Jason Moon is the early leader with a first-round 66.

Day two of the NCAA Central Regional, hosted by Kansas State University, gets underway with the first group teeing off at 7:30 a.m. CDT with the final round scheduled for Saturday.
