TCU To Represent C-USA At NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals

    CHICAGO – TCU, the 2003 Conference USA Men’s Golf champions, earned it’s 14th-straight NCAA Regional bid and will be the No. 2 seed in the Central Region, while Houston’s BRETT CALLAS and Louisville’s BRETT JONES have been selected to participate in the same regional on an individual basis.

    CHICAGO – TCU, the 2003 Conference USA Men’s Golf champions, earned it’s 14th-straight NCAA Regional bid and will be the No. 2 seed in the Central Region. The Horned Frogs will play May 15-17 at the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas, hosted by Kansas State University. In addition to TCU’s team selection, Houston’s BRETT CALLAS and Louisville’s BRETT JONES have been selected to participate in the Central Region on an individual basis.

    The Horned Frogs, ranked eighth nationally in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, secured the league’s automatic bid after winning its second consecutive C-USA title with a three-day team total of 862 at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla. TCU also captured the 2002 golf championship in its first season of play in Conference USA. In addition to TCU’s conference championship, the Horned Frogs also own two fall tournament titles, winning the Sooner Invitational and the Prestige at PGA West.

    TCU is led by All-Conference USA First Team picks ADAM RUBINSON, ADAM MEYER and DAVID SCHULTZ. Rubinson, the C-USA Player of the Year, won the All-American Classic with a five-under par 208, while Meyer claimed the Waikoloa Intercollegiate with a 12-under par 202. Schultz also earned individual medalist honors at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational with a 15-under par 201.
    U of L’s Jones has two second-place finishes to his credit this season with an 11-under par 205 at the Baylor Invitational and a six-over par 222 at the Johnny Owens Invitational. He finished eighth at the C-USA Championships with three-day 217 total, while UH’s Callas’ best finish of the year was tying for third at the league championship after carding a three-round total of 213.
    The NCAA Championships will be conducted May 27-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, hosted by Oklahoma State University. The top ten teams and two individuals will advance from each regional to the championships finals.
