Men's Golfer of the Week
Jordan Irwin - Houston (Sophomore, Calgary, Alberta)
Irwin becomes the second consecutive Cougar, and third this spring, to earn Golfer of the Week honors after he earned medalist honors at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate earlier this week. Irwin was the only golfer in the tournament to shoot under par (-1) with a three-round 212, three strokes ahead of the next golfer in the 65-man field, to lead UH to a tie with host South Carolina-Aiken for the team title. It is the fourth consecutive team championship for the Cougars in 2006. Teammates Ricky Romano and Pablo Acuna have also been recognized for their performances this season.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Michaela Cavener - Tulsa (Sophomore, Ponca City, Okla.)
Cavener placed fourth at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial Tournament with rounds of 75-75-78=228 on the par-72 Tradition Golf Course. It was the second-best finish of her career and marked the fifth time in six tournaments that she placed in the Top 20. She has taken a half stroke off her average this spring compared to her fall outings. Cavener becomes the second Golden Hurricane player to earn Women's Golfer of the Week laurels as classmate Leisl Hasbrouck was selected for the honor in November.
