Porshia Allen Named To Horizon League All-Newcomer Team

Nov. 16, 2006

Dayton, Ohio - After leading the Bulldogs in kills during her first collegiate season, Butler freshman outside hitter Porshia Allen has been named to the 2006 Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. The league made the announcement at the championship awards banquet on Thursday (Nov. 16) evening.

Allen paces the squad and ranks ninth in the Horizon League with 2.95 kills per game, totaling 307 on the season. The Indianapolis native and Pike High School product has also excelled on defense, ranking third on the team in both digs (2.22 per game) and total blocks (0.72 per game). Her eight double-doubles on the year are tied for the team lead.

"I think Porshia is very deserving of the award," head coach Sharon Clark said. "She has made a big impact as a freshman, and we're excited to see more great things from her as she develops. She is going to make a huge impact in the conference in the years to come."

The No. 7 seed Bulldogs take on No. 2 UIC on Friday (Nov. 17) beginning at 2:00 p.m. at McLin Gymnasium on the campus of Wright State.
