Flames Top Bulldogs In Horizon League Opener, 3-0
Sept. 22, 2006 Chicago - Freshman Porshia Allen continued her first-year success, knocking down 17 kills against UIC in the Bulldogs' Horizon League opener on Friday (Sept. 22) night, but the Flames out-hit Butler, .291 to .158, as a team to secure a 30-28, 30-17, 30-22 decision at UIC Pavilion. Allen hit .433 (17-4-30) in the contest to pace the Bulldogs, registering her ninth game with double-digit kills in her first collegiate season. Junior Michelle DeGeeter added nine kills and a .318 hitting percentage for Butler, while senior Susana Henri and sophomore Nina Inic each tallied 12 digs. Amanda Kenney paced the Flames with a .500 attack percentage (13-1-24).
The Bulldogs remain in Chicago on Saturday (Sept. 23) when they take on Loyola beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT.
