High-Octane Offensive Performances Drive Butler Past East Tennessee, 3-0

Sept. 7, 2007

Box Score

Morgantown, W.Va. - Dana Daprile, Michelle DeGeeter and Jessica Wolfe all hit above .400 in the match and the Bulldogs cruised to a 30-19, 32-30, 30-25 victory over East Tennessee State at the West Virginia Volleyball Classic on Friday (Sept. 7) night.

Butler improves to 3-5 on the year, while East Tennessee suffers just its second defeat of the year to fall to 5-2.

The Bulldogs finished with a season-high .243 attack percentage thanks in large part to the superb play of the hard-hitting trio.

Daprile finished the night one kill shy of her first double-double of the year, hitting a team-best .467 (9-2-15) and dishing 26 assists. DeGeeter paced the team with 15 kills at a .414 attack percentage (15-3-29), while Wolfe added 14 kills with a .462 hitting percentage (14-2-26) and added eight digs.

Meanwhile, Butler held the Buccaneers to a team .128 percentage.

"We wanted to come out with an aggressive attitude for this match," head coach Sharon Clark said. "Michelle [DeGeeter] really stepped up and led us in that area. She was dominant on the floor both up front and in back.

"This was a great way to start this tournament."

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Sept. 8) when they take on host West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. before taking on Indiana State starting at 5:30 p.m.
