Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler held Kennesaw State to a -.057 attack percentage and just 21 kills as the Bulldogs tallied a 3-0 sweep of the Owls on the opening day of the Butler Wyndham Invitational on Friday (Sept. 1) evening at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The Bulldogs (3-0) worked a quick 30-17 opening game, holding the Owls to just six kills while forcing nine errors. KSU (0-4) showed some resiliency in the second contest, however, battling Butler to 17-17 tie before the Bulldogs closed the game at 30-21 thanks to a 13-4 run and closed the match in a dominant 30-16 final game.

Freshman Porshia Allen paced the Bulldogs in kills for third time in three matchs, knocking down 13 in 27 attempts. Senior Krystal Hendrix added nine kills at a .375 attack percentage, while junior Michelle DeGeeter chipped in seven kills and a team-best 13 digs and three service aces.

"Michelle did a great job on defense for us," head coach Sharon Clark said. "She dug a lot of good balls and had some good hits. She really sparked us and gave us some momentum. Krystal and Porshia both did a great job of hitting as well.

"Our goal this week was to serve tougher, and we met that goal in this game. We worked on that all week and it really paid off for us. This win gives us some good momentum heading into tomorrow's games."

The win gives Clark her 199th victory as a collegiate head coach and her 97th during her tenure at Butler.
