Xavier Drops Visiting Butler, 7-0

Xavier topped visiting Butler, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon in a non-league contest played at the Mercy HealthPlex at Fairfield in Fairfield, Ohio. Butler's duo of Tayo Bailey and Michelle Hawes combined for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, but the Musketeers responded to take the doubles point and all six singles matches. With the win, Xavier improves to 7-6, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-10.

The Bulldogs return to action Sunday, traveling to Evansville for a 1 p.m. serve against the Purple Aces. That match is followed by four straight Horizon League contests. Butler currently owns a 2-0 mark in league play.
