Nov. 11, 2004 On the first day of the national signing period (Nov. 10), Butler softball coach Tom Spencer received the signatures of three prep stars on national letters of intent. The trio will play the upcoming season at their respective high schools before arriving at Butler in August, 2005. Katie Bell, an infielder/outfielder from Lagrange, Ohio, Annie Dolan, a utility player from Bloomingdale, Ill., and Lindsay Schluge, an infielder/outfielder from Indianapolis, are the latest additions to Spencer's roster. "These three student-athletes provide us with much-needed speed and versatility," said Spencer, who enters his third season at Butler. "We're excited to sign these three and look forward to their arrival at Butler." A three-time all-conference selection, the 5-6 player has been named a Chicago top player by both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune. Dolan has been a standout for the Beverly Bandits travel softball team. The team won their regional in 2004, advancing to the ASA Gold World Series. Dolan's travel team won the USSSA World Series in 2002. Schluge makes the short commute from Roncalli High School in Indianapolis. Having already earned three varsity letters, she has been designated as the team's captain for the upcoming season. In 2004, Schluge was recognized as an "All-Marion County" selection, in addition to the 2004 Metro Indianapolis "All-South" team. The ICGSA "All-District" selection already is the career batting average leader for Roncalli.
