Ball State Takes Doubleheader from Bulldogs
March 24, 2004 Sophomore Angie Johnson's second career homerun in the seventh inning Tuesday tied the Bulldogs with visiting Ball State, 2-2, before the Cardinals scored two runs in the 10th to take a 4-2 decision. Heather Ryan scored the first Bulldog run after leading off the second inning with a single. Senior Melissa Benter started for the Bulldogs before being relieved by Jennifer Sundin in the sixth inning. In the second game, the Cardinals' Amy Brownfield threw a four-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory for Ball State. The game was called after five innings due to darkness. JoAnna Gonzalez, Ryan, Cameo Wrasse and Melissa Lemrick had hits for the Bulldogs, who fall to 4-16 on the season after the doubleheader. Freshman Jamie Wonderly took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing only five hits.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday with a doubleheader against Bradley. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
