Naffziger Shuts Out Army, 4-0, Monday at Rebel Games

March 14, 2005

Box Score

After the team's first scheduled game of the day was rained out Monday, the Bulldogs took to the field in the afternoon and posted a 4-0 win over Army at the Rebel Games in Orlando, Fla. Freshman Nikki Naffziger allowed just two hits in seven innings to post the shutout and improve to 5-1 in her Butler career. She's been the pitcher of record in five of the team's six wins this season.

Monday's game against Bradley was rained out and the contest against Army got a late start, but Naffziger didn't seem to mind the extra rest, striking out nine batters. Classmate Amy Hyerczyk went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one of the Bulldogs' four runs and Angie Johnson also had two hits.

The Bulldogs, now 6-5 on the season, return to action Tuesday against Tennessee-Martin (2:20 p.m.) and Yale (6 p.m.). Butler continues play at the Rebel Games through Thursday with two games scheduled per day.
