Bulldogs Capture A Pair of Wins At IU Invitational

Feb. 24, 2003

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Butler women's soccer team captured a pair of wins over the weekend at the Indiana University Soccer Invitational at the John Mellencamp Indoor Facility. The Bulldogs defeated the Dayton Soccer Academy U17 team, 2-1, and Krista Rott's goal with under a minute remaining lifted Butler to a 1-0 victory over Ball State. Rott and Maura Murphey scored the goals against the Dayton club team.

"Coming into this tournament, we had only been practicing for one week, so we weren't really sure what to expect," said head coach Woody Sherwood."We have been working very hard the past six weeks from a fitness and conditioning standpoint though, and I think that work paid off for us this weekend. Our soccer was a little sloppy at times, but overall, I was happy with our play and our effort. We were fortunate to defeat two very good teams."
