The Bulldogs dropped a non-league match to host Miami, 3-0, Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 7-7-2 on the season, while the RedHawks improve to 6-8-2. Neither of Butler's shots were on goal as Miami dominated all 90 minutes of play.

Laura Freel tallied a goal for the RedHawks in the 27th minute. Ashley Swinehart followed with a score five minutes later and Kate Padfield finished off the Miami scoring with a goal in the 84th minute. Kathleen Vistica had two assists on the afternoon for the RedHawks.

Freshman Megan Cappa got the start in goal for the Bulldogs, making five saves and allowing the first two Miami goals in one half of action. Katie Sanders played the final 45 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs, making three saves and allowing the final RedHawk goal. Emily Smith played all 90 minutes in goal for Miami, registering the shutout.

"At no point were we really in this match," said coach Woody Sherwood. "Miami took it to us from the start. There have only been three teams all season that have clearly handled us and Miami is one of those.

"We'll definitely need to play better to be successful against Detroit Sunday."

The Bulldogs return home Sunday to host Detroit in the teams' Horizon League regular season finale. The match begins at noon at Varsity Field. Butler is tied with Detroit and UW-Green Bay for second place in the league standings at 3-2. With a win, the Bulldogs would secure the No. 2 seed in the league tournament.

Sunday will also be "Senior Day" at Varsity Field as seniors Annie Doerr, Amy Pike, Krista Rott and Amber Stauch will be honored for their contributions over the past four years.
