Butler Falls at Youngstown State, 2-0

Oct. 8, 2005

Box Score

Brittny Humphrey scored two goals to give Youngstown State a 2-0 win over visiting Butler in a Horizon League match Saturday afternoon. Butler out-shot the Penguins, 15-12, and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn't find the net. YSU picks up their first win of the season against 12 losses, while Butler falls to 4-6-2.

"We knew we faced a big challenge coming in here on their artificial surface," said Butler coach Woody Sherwood. "I thought we did well. You have to give Youngstown a lot of credit. They battled us and took advantage of their chances."

Butler's Ashley Twehues had a team-high four shots for Butler, including two on goal. Juniors Kristin Harnest and Caitlin Gill each had three. Megan Cappa got the start in goal for Butler and made three saves.

Humphrey had six shots and scored her goals in the 39th and 68th minutes. Caitlin Bestard made eight saves in the shutout.

Butler returns to action Sunday afternoon at league foe Cleveland State.
