Bulldogs Falter at Xavier

Butler suffered its fifth loss of the season at Xavier Sunday, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Musketeers. The loss brings the Bulldogs' record to 3-5-0 on the season. Xavier found the scoreboard first, scoring in the 10th minute of play off of a header from senior Amber Silvis. Butler answered with a goal in the 35th minute, when Ashley Twehues took a ball from Abbie Kaul and made a shot from 25 yards. The Musketeers closed out the match's scoring with a second goal from Silvis just one minute into the second half. The Bulldogs were out-shot 16-4 for the game. Xavier also held the edge in corner kicks, 6-1. Junior Kirby Zwickel took the loss in goal for Butler, making eight saves in her seventh complete-game effort of the season. Te Bulldogs return to action Friday, hosting Loyola in their first Horizon League game of the season. The game is set to face off at 4:30 p.m. at Varsity Field.
