Late Goal Lifts No. 25 Louisville Past Bulldogs, 1-0

Sept. 9, 2007

Box Score

Louisville, Ky. - A lone goal from the outside the six-yard box was all that the Bulldogs would allow nationally-ranked Louisville on Sunday (Sept. 9) afternoon, but the single score would be all that they would need as the No. 25 Cardinals claimed a 1-0 decision over Butler at Cardinal Park.

Louisville's Kelsey Hunyadi took a pass from Emily Prokopik and fired a shot from the right side of the six-yard box for what would be the only scoring in the match in the 79th minute of play.

"We need to decide if we want to be a good team and win games or an average team that just competes," head coach Tari St. John said. "When you come out on the losing end, we should not find solace in simply playing well against a really good team. That is not a winner's mentality."

Annalise Larkin played the full 90 minutes in net for Butler, making eight saves. Lindsey Fox had the Bulldogs' best scoring opportunity in the match, notching the only shot on goal in the seventh minute of play.

Butler returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 11) when they head to Terre Haute, Ind. for a 4:00 p.m. match at Indiana State.
