Susan Lester Named Horizon League Player Of The Week

Jan. 29, 2007

Indianapolis, Ind. - After averaging a double-double against two of the top teams in the league, freshman forward Susan Lester was named the Horizon League's Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Monday (Jan. 29).

Lester was a force to be reckoned with in games against UW-Green Bay (Jan. 25) and UW-Milwaukee (Jan. 27), averaging 15.5 points and 10 rebounds while going head-to-head with Pre-Season All-League First Team post players Nicole Soulis (UW-Green Bay) and Traci Edwards (UW-Milwaukee).

The Anderson, Ind. native earned a start against the Phoenix and notched her third double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds, going 4-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point. She again started against the Panthers and notched another double-double (her third in a row) with 20 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-14 shooting while helping the Bulldogs to their fifth league win. She also added her first career block while posting career-highs with five assists and three steals.

"We're really proud of the way Susan has played this year," head coach Beth Couture said. "In these past few ballgames, you can really see what kind of great player she will become in our league. Her ability to receive this honor in week in which she had to play against two of the toughest post players in the league speaks for her hard work and the improvement that she has made throughout the year."

Lester leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game and is fifth on the squad with 8.1 points per game.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Feb. 3) when they host Wright State beginning at 6:00 p.m.
