Evan West Named Horizon League Player Of The Week
April 24, 2007 Indianapolis, Ind. - After putting together a dominant week of play in helping the Bulldogs to their 10th-straight undefeated league campaign, Butler senior Evan West has been named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (April 24). West went undefeated in singles play last week while adding a pair of victories at doubles. He scored a 6-3, 6-3 victory over IPFW up a spot at No. 2 singles before adding two-set wins at No. 3 against Horizon League foes Cleveland State (6-2, 6-4) and Youngstown State (6-2, 6-0). He also teamed with Scott Newmark for an 8-6 No. 2 doubles victory against the Mastodons and an 8-6 win at No. 3 over Cleveland State. West is the third Butler player to receive weekly honors from the league this season. He joins two-time winner James Low (April 3 and April 10) and Eric Breitenbach (March 8). West and the top-seeded Bulldogs open up the Horizon League Championship on Saturday (April 28) when they take on the winner of the opening round match between No. 4 Wright State and No. 5 UW-Green Bay.
