Butler Aims for Seventh League Title in Last Eight Years Beginning Saturday

April 18, 2005

Butler's pursuit of its fourth straight Horizon League Men's Tennis Championship begins Saturday at North Central High School in Indianapolis. The top-seeded Bulldogs will face the winner of the morning match between fourth-seeded UW-Green Bay and fifth-seeded Youngstown State.

The Bulldogs went a perfect 5-0 in Horizon League matches this season, running their conference mark under head coach Jason Suscha to 46-1. Overall, the Bulldogs are 13-12 on the season and have won five straight matches entering this weekend's tournament. Butler has already posted 7-0 wins over both UW-Green Bay and Youngstown State this season.

UW-Green Bay has placed second to Butler in the last three championships, as Butler has won six of the last seven titles. The championship match is slated for 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Suscha has consistently used James Low, Andy Bartish, Parker Ross and Evan West at the top four singles spots. The final two singles spots and a few positions in doubles have been spread among Mike Weaver, Adam Bordow, Tony Aker, Scott Newmark and Eric Breitenbach.
