Weekly Notes: Men's Tennis

UP NEXT: The Butler men's tennis team will host Vincennes on Sunday (Apr. 22) in the Bulldogs' last home match of the season. The match will be played at North Central High School beginning at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs (15-10) will then have a week off to prepare for the Horizon League Championships (Apr. 26-28) which will also be held at North Central H.S.

POUNDING THE PANTHERS: The Bulldogs blanked Eastern Illinois 7-0 on Wednesday at the Butler Bowl. The match marked senior day for five Butler players - Jimmy Borendame, Brandon Currie, Abel Contreras, Alex Kurz and Josh Rey - and each did their part in making leading the Bulldogs to the victory. All five seniors won their respective singles matches in two sets and each captured a doubles win on the day as well. Junior Aubrey Annan completed Butler's lineup on the day, taking a 6-2, 6-2 victory in No. 6 singles and teaming up with Contreras for an 8-5 triumph in No. 3 doubles.

WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON: The Bulldogs have enjoyed great success in the Horizon League this season, going undefeated with a 5-0 mark in league action. Butler defeated league rival Wright State 6-1 on Saturday to claim the No. 1 seed at the Horizon League Championships. All five Butler seniors won their respective singles matches in the Bulldogs' victory over the Raiders

QUITE A WEEK: Seniors Jimmy Borendame, Brandon Currie and Josh Rey each went 2-0 in singles and doubles action on the week, defeating opponents from Eastern Illinois and Wright State.
