Bulldogs Drop Match at University of Michigan
Jan. 25, 2004
The Bulldogs dropped a dual match at the University of Michigan, 7-0, Sunday. Butler fell to 0-3 in the spring season, while the Wolverines improved to 3-0. Freshman Evan West won the first set of his match against Carey Rubin, 6-2, before losing the second set and third-set tiebreaker.
For the first time this season, Kevin and Brandon Gill played together at No. 1 doubles, dropping an 8-2 decision. Chris Peric and Adam Bordow stretched the No. 3 doubles match to 9-7. Kevin Gill lost a 7-5, 6-3 match at No. 1 singles to Michael Rubin, ranked No. 30 in the nation.
The Bulldogs' three-match trip through the state of Michigan saw them play tough competition (No. 57 Michigan, No. 59 Michigan State and No. 66 Western Michigan), but things won't get any easier when the Bulldogs travel to No. 53 Purdue Friday. The match will be the Bulldogs' third against a Big Ten opponent in the last week. Following are match-by-match results:
