Men's soccer signs five new players for upcoming season

March 22, 2006

New Butler Men's Soccer head coach Kelly Findley has announced the signing of five new players for the upcoming season. The five signees represent three states and one foreign country. All five bring strong club soccer backgrounds to the team.

The five players who have signed include Dorshon Deans from Houston, Texas, Lucas Carden from Chicago, Ill., Adam Burch and Austin Evans from Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Callum Emo from Auckland, New Zealand.

Deans, a forward, led his club team, the Houstonians, to South Texas State Cup Championships in 2004 and 2005. He was on the 88' ODP South Texas Team from 2000-2005 and was team captain for four years.

Carden is a midfielder who played club soccer for the Chicago Sockers. He was named the Sockers Top Talent in 2004 and 2005. He was MVP of the Manchester United Nike Premier Cup in Beaverton, Oregon in 2003.

Adam Burch and Austin Evans are both midfielders for the Ft. Wayne Fever. Burch played for Indiana's ODP team in 2004 and 2005. The team was the 2004 Midwest Regional Champion.

Evans was named MVP, All-Conference, and All-District in high school and a Top 5 player in the NLC and NIC Districts while in high school. In 2004, he was an All-Conference player and an Indiana East All-Star. He was also named All-Conference in 2003 and earned the Coaches Select Award.

Emo is a midfielder who played club soccer for Three Kings United. In 2005 he was named High School Player of the Year. His team also made the Under-17 New Zealand Team Pool and the Under-15 New Zealand Team Pool while he was a member.

In his first season, Findley looks to improve on the Bulldogs' 9-10 record from a year ago. Butler began last season with a 9-2 record but dropped eight straight to end the year.
