GWLL Tabs Butler's Nick Vosburgh as Player of the Week

May 4, 2005

After scoring the game-winner in Friday's win over No. 16/17 Fairfield University, Butler freshman Nick Vosburgh has been named the Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) "Player of the Week." Vosburgh's overtime score lifted the Bulldogs to a 12-11 win in the team's season finale. Vosburgh is the first Butler player to be honored during the 2005 campaign. The GWLL made the announcement May 4.

Vosburgh led the Bulldogs with four goals and one assist. His four goals and five points were each one off his respective career-highs. Less than a minute into overtime, Vosburgh took a feed from fellow rookie Jason Donati and deposited it in the back of the net to give the Bulldogs the win. It was the Bulldogs' first win over a ranked opponent since April of 2002.

Vosburgh added six shots and two ground balls in the Bulldogs' only action last week.

Friday's game was the season finale for the Bulldogs. Vosburgh finished the 2005 campaign as the team's leader in points (30) and assists (12). His 18 goals were the second-best mark on the team.
