Ryan Ward Named GWLL Player of the Week
March 3, 2003 INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Ryan Ward was named the Great Western Lacrosse Player of the Week, the GWLL office announced today. Ward scored 11 goals in two games in guiding the Bulldogs to a 15-2 triumph over VMI and a 19-14 victory over Canisius. Ward, preseason honorable mention All-American, broke the school record for single game points with a seven-goal, three-assist performance against the Golden Griffins and his seven tallies tied former Bulldog Mike Regan's school record set in the 2000 campaign. "I feel that Ryan is very deserving of this award," said head coach Craig Kahoun. "He has been tremendous for us on the offensive end so far this season and the leadership he displays both on and off the field has been great." Ward, a two-time All-GWLL selection, has been a standout at Butler throughout his four years with the Bulldogs (2-1). He currently ranks in a fifth-place tie for career assists (44) and stands in ninth position for career points (97). |
