Bulldogs Fall, 12-5, at No. 8 Ohio State Friday

The Bulldogs had their record evened at 5-5 with a 12-5 loss at No. 8 Ohio State Friday. Senior Lawrence O'Toole had two goals for Butler, which got out to a 3-2 lead after the first period. The Buckeyes improved to 8-2 on the season with the win. Butler is now 0-2 in Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) play, while the Buckeyes are 2-0. O'Toole scored seven minutes into the game for the first tally for either team. He would add a second goal in the first period to tie the game at 2-2. An Anthony Crimmins goal with 30 seconds remaining in the first 15 minutes gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. However, the Buckeyes would out-score the Bulldogs, 10-2, from then on en route to the win. Ohio State tightened its defense, not allowing the Bulldogs to find the net over the last three minutes of the second period and the entire second half. Kyle Olson scored four times for the Buckeyes, who have now won eight straight games. Butler also got goals from Colin Joyce and Phil Brauch. Junior Kyle Tietjen assisted on both of O'Toole's goals. Sam Ashley started in net for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return home after being on the road for three games for a GWLL match-up against Notre Dame Thursday. The Fighting Irish are ranked in the Top 20 of both national polls.
