Bulldogs Place Fourth At Indianapolis Invitational

Freshmen Abe Mulvihill and Michael Poteracki posted "Top 10" individual finishes to highlight Butler's fall men's golf opener at the University of Indianapolis Invitational held at The Links at Heartland Crossing in Camby on Tuesday, Sept. 7. The Bulldogs placed fourth in the 16-team field.

Mulvihill and Poteracki, making their collegiate debut, each shot a one-over-par 73 on the 6,849-yard layout to finish in a tie for seventh place in the 18-hole tournament. Mulvihill, playing as a member of Butler's scoring team, carded nines of 36 and 37. Poteracki, who was competing as a non-scoring individual, went out in 37 and came in with a 36. The two first-year Butler players finished just three strokes behind medalist Stephen Ford of Marian College.

Sophomores Chris Spitler and Justin Kime tied for 29th in the 104-player field with scores of six-over-par 78. Both players shot identical nines of 39. Junior Will Turner finished in a tie for 42nd place with an 80, while junior Trey Server rounded out Butler's scoring team with a tie for 51st place at 81.
 

 

Four other Butler players competed as non-scoring individuals. Junior Wil Anderson finished in a tie for 22nd place with a five-over-par 77, while freshman David Kleer was one stroke back in a tie for 29th place. Freshman Colin Quinn and junior Brad Webb each tied for 51st place with identical scores of 81.

Host Indianapolis won the team championship with a score of 297, one stroke ahead of runner-up Marian. Northern Kentucky came in third with a 305, while the Bulldogs finished at 309.
