Butler Finishes Third At Greg Palmer Eagle Classic

April 13, 2004

Senior Colin Christie finished runner-up in the individual standings and Butler claimed third place in the final team standings at the weather-shortened Greg Palmer Eagle Classic at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Morehead, Ky. Rain forced postponement of the tournament's second round on Monday, April 12, and then washed out the final round on Tuesday, April 13.

Christie shot a 71 on the first day and wound up two strokes behind medalist Jamie Frazier of Murray State. The two were the only golfers in the 70-player field to break par. Kyle Litter of Morehead State, John Billiter of Western Illinois and Casey Wade of Morehead State all tied for third place with a two-over-par 74.

Butler senior Jonathan Novak finished in a tie for 13th in the tournament with a 77. Sophomore Will Turner tied for 34th with an 80, senior Jeff Chapman tied for 49th with an 83 and freshman Chris Spitler tied for 51st with an 84 to round out Butler's scoring team. Sophomore Trey Server, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 55th with an 85.

Host Morehead State and Murray State wound up sharing the team title with a final score of 10-over-par 298, while Butler finished at 311, one stroke ahead of Cleveland State and Western Illinois.
