Butler Places 11th At Beu/Mussatto Classic

Sophomore Chris Spitler carded three sub-80 rounds and helped Butler to an 11th place team finish at the 33rd Annual Beu/Mussatto Classic played in Macomb, Ill., on Monday and Tuesday, March 28-29. Host Western Illinois won the 15-team tournament played on the 6,862-yard layout at Harry Mussatto Golf Course.

Spitler shot an opening-round 79, came back with a four-over-par 76 in the second round and closed with a 79 to tie for 33rd in the final individual standings. He was one stroke better than teammate Will Turner, who tied for 37th with a two-day total of 235. Turner, who had the team's best single round with a one-over-par 73 in the second round, opened with a 79 and finished with an 83.

Senior Wil Anderson tied for 62nd place with rounds of 85, 83 and 81, while freshman Abe Mulvihill came in 64th with a three-round score of 250 (83-83-84), one stroke behind Anderson. Junior Trey Server finished 69th with a score of 253 (86-81-86).

Tim Streng and Nick Kwaterski of Western Illinois tied for the top individual spot with identical rounds of 72, 67 and 75. Streng won medalist honors in a playoff.
