Steve Jones is in his third season as head coach of the men's golf team at Butler. He's also in his fourth season as head coach of the women's team. Jones took over the men's program in 2004-05, one season after he assumed the position of women's head coach at Butler. He guided Butler to a fifth place finish in the Horizon League Championship in 2005 and a sixth place finish in 2006. In his three seasons as head coach of Butler's women's golf team, Jones has guided the Bulldogs to a pair of league championships and a league runner-up finish. He was named league Coach of the Year in both 2005 and 2006 and league Co-Coach of the Year in 2004. Prior to assuming his current position at Butler, Jones served as Director of Instruction at the Golf Academy at Eagle Creek Golf Course. He also served as head professional and co-owner of Turkey Run Golf Club in Waveland, Ind., and as a part-time golf instructor at Riverside Golf Academy in Indianapolis. A Class A-1 member of the PGA of America and the Indiana Golf Association, Jones has been a prominent senior player in Indiana. He was named Indiana Senior PGA Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999. The Butler golf coach holds a B.S. degree in education from Utah (1971). He also has completed the PGA Business School, I, II and III, and the PGA Rules Seminar. |
