Butler Men Earn Top Ten Ranking

Oct. 6, 2004

The Butler men's and women's cross country teams both remained in the national polls following a strong showing at the Notre Dame Invitational. Butler's men climbed one place to No. 10 in the Mondo Men's NCAA-I Cross Country Poll, while the women's team at Butler was tabbed No. 26 in the FinishLynx/NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Poll.

The "Top 10" ranking for Butler's men is the highest national rank ever for a Butler cross country team! Last week's No. 11 ranking was the previous high. The Butler women were ranked 20th in last week's poll.

Butler also picked up a couple of Horizon League honors following the Notre Dame Invitational Senior Thomas Frazer, who placed eighth at Notre Dame, was named Horizon League Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, while senior Victoria Mitchell, who came in 11th in South Bend, was tabbed as the Horizon League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. Frazer covered the 8K men's race in 23:51, while helping Butler to a third place team finish. Mitchell ran the 5K women's race in 17:04 and helped the Bulldogs to an eighth place team finish.
