Scott Overall Advances To NCAA Finals
March 9, 2007 Senior Scott Overall broke the school record and became the first Butler runner to advance to the national finals in indoor track while competing in the mile run prelims at the 2007 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday, March 9. He will compete in the finals of the mile run on Saturday, March 10, at 6:25 p.m. (CDT). The event will be broadcast on the internet on ESPN 360. Overall ran with the lead group in the fastest heat and was one of four runners who crossed the finish line at virtually the same time! Russell Brown of Stanford won the heat in 4:00.19, while Stephen Pifer of Colorado and Tim Bayley of Iona both finished in 4:00.49. Overall was fourth in the heat in a Butler record 4:00.52! Ten total runners advanced to Saturday's finals in the mile run. The top eight finishers each earn All-America status. Overall also will compete in the 3,000 meter run on Saturday at 7:50 p.m.
