Andrew Sherman Named Horizon League Track Athlete Of The Week

Feb. 17, 2005

Butler senior Andrew Sherman, who tied Butler's school record in the indoor mile, has been named Horizon League Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 14. He's the second consecutive member of the Butler men?s track team to earn the league's weekly honor.

Sherman placed runner-up in the mile run at the Iowa State Classic with a time of 4:04.20. His mark tied the Butler school record set by Julius Mwangi in 1998. He was 0.06 behind individual champ Ryan Hampton of Missouri, and the two race leaders were among five individuals to beat the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

A week ago, Butler's Chris Smith was named Horizon League Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, after setting a school record in the 1,000 meter run at the Meyo Invitational.
