Butler Swimming Again Among The Nation's Best Academically

Aug. 30, 2007

Indianapolis, Ind. - It's becoming a regular occurrence for the Butler swimming program.

For the fourth consecutive semester, the Bulldogs are ranked among the best in the nation academically, according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The rankings were released earlier this week.

The Butler women's and men's teams combined for the sixth-highest cumulative grade point average during the spring semester in 2007, while both squads were the highest-ranked among Horizon League teams in the standings.

The women's team boasted a 3.562 GPA during the spring for a fourth-place ranking nationally, while the men's team checked in at 24th nationally with a 3.214 GPA.

The men's and women's teams from Dartmouth posted the highest combined GPA in the country, while South Carolina (women's) and Northwestern (men's) claimed the highest single team marks.

The Bulldogs have been among the nation's best academic programs in every semester since head coach Maurice Stewart assumed the helm two seasons ago.
