Duggal Claims Distance Title at Ritter Invitational

Sophomore Raj Duggal highlighted Butler's performance at the Bill Ritter Invitational over the weekend, winning the 1650-yd. freestyle with a time of 16:31.57. UW-Milwaukee hosted the six-team invitational at the site of this season's Horizon League Championships, the Klotsche Center. Duggal also placed third in the 500-yd. freestyle with a time of 4:49.62. Jason Brozek finished fourth in the 200-yd. breaststroke, getting to the wall in 2:14.11 and placed fifth in the 200-yd. individual medley (2:00.97). On the women's side, sophomore Mary Beth Arnold turned in a top-five performance in the 100-yd. breaststroke, covering the distance in 1:09.27 for fourth. She placed sixth in the 200-yd. breaststroke. Senior Jesse Levknecht's time of 2:16.87 in the 200-yd. butterfly was good enough for fifth.
Horizon League rival UW-Green Bay won both the men's and women's competition, with Butler finishing fourth on the men's side and fifth in the women's. The Bulldogs followed UWGB, UIC and host UW-Milwaukee in the men's standings, while beating Marquette's club team. For the women, Illinois State, UW-Milwaukee, UIC, Butler and Marquette's club team trailed UW-Green Bay. The Bulldogs return to action in two weeks, hosting Valparaiso and Saint Louis in Carmel, Ind., on Sunday, Feb. 6. The meet is the last competition for the Bulldogs prior to the Horizon League Championships Feb. 23-26 in Milwaukee, Wis. Complete Results Men
