Bison Women's Soccer Tallies A Win
Sept. 14, 2002 ALBANY, N.Y. - The Bison produced their third shutout of the season against Sacred Heart at the Fourth Annual Governor's Cup Tournament at the University at Albany. Bucknell attempted eight shots during the afternoon, while goalkeeper Laurie Purse captured six saves from the Pioneers. Senior Tara Utchel had the lone goal of the afternoon, which was unassisted. Utchel scored the goal at the 48:22 mark of the second half. Purse was in goal for the entire 90 minutes and was faced with only 11 shots from Sacred Heart. Bucknell has now faced and defeated two conference champions during the 2002 campaign. The two teams include Marist, who belongs to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Sacred Heart, who belongs to the Northeastern Conference. Both of these opponents were conference champions in 2001. The Bison beat Marist, 1-0, last Sunday, Sept. 8. Bucknell finish this game with a 4-1 overall record. The Orange and Blue return to action on Sunday, Sept. 15 to conclude tournament play in the Albany Tournament. |
