LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Stephen Dorsey (North Wales, Pa./Casalle Collegiate), of the Bucknell men's cross country team, tabbed Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week honors, announced Tuesday, after leading the Bucknell freshman class for the second consecutive week. At the Bison Open, on Aug. 31, he was the highest finisher of Bison newcomers, and was the top finisher for the all-freshman squad at the Bloomsburg Invitational last Saturday. Dorsey ran his first career 8,000-meter race on Saturday at the Bloomsburg Invitational in 27 minutes, 44.00 seconds. Finishing in fourth place out of 35 runners, he was the top finisher for the Bison men, who had only first-year runners participating in the race. Dorsey led Bucknell to a second-place finish ahead of Bloomfield and behind Bloomsburg. In his first collegiate race two weeks ago at the Bison Open, Dorsey was one of eight Bison to finish in the top-10 out of 62 runners. Coming in ninth place with a time of 15:22.78, Dorsey was the seventh-fastest Bison overall and was the top finisher out of the Bucknell freshman class in the 3-mile race. Looking ahead, the Bucknell cross country team is set to send runners to the Juniata Invitational in Altoona, Pa., and to the Western Ontario International Invitational in London, Ontario, on Sept. 22. |
