LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling squad improved to 4-0 at home this season with a 21-12 victory over Brown on Friday evening in Davis Gym. With the win, the Bison move to 5-7-1 overall and 2-2 in the EIWA, while the Bears fall to 2-3, 0-1 in EIWA duals.

Bucknell raced out to a 9-0 lead after victories at the opening three weights. Sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) downed Nathan Myers, 8-4, at 125 and his classmate David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central), ranked No. 15 in the latest InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings, registered a 10-4 decision against Jeff Schell at 133. Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) followed with a 10-6 win over Mark Savino at 141.

However, Brown cut its deficit to three with an 11-8 decision by Mark Bloom over Bison 149-pounder Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) and a 5-0 victory by Tom Fazio over sophomore Brantley Hooks (Spartanburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) in the 157-pound bout.

That would be as close as the Bears would come to overtaking the Orange and Blue as sophomore Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) helped dash Brown's hopes of a comeback by pinning Chris Musser 6:20 into the 165-pound matchup. Sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) then added three more points for the Bison with his 2-0 win against Chris Musser at 174.

The Bears logged their final six points on two close battles at 184 and 197. Bucknell freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) dropped a 5-2 decision to Matt Gevelinger and freshman Charlie Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) was edged by Branden Stearns, 4-3.

Sophomore heavyweight George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) wrapped up the meet for the Orange and Blue with a 2-1 victory over Zach Zdrada.

The Bison will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 26, wrestling at Liberty with Davidson and The Citadel in a meet that is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
