Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving in Second Place After Day One of Competition in the Bucknell Damon's Trials/Finals Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's swimming and diving squad currently sits second in team scoring at the Bucknell Damon's Trials/Finals Invitational after one day of competition. James Madison leads the four teams participating in the two-day event with 483 points while the Bison follow with 441.50 points and Old Dominion and Binghamton are currently third and fourth with 423 and 361.5 points, respectively.

Junior Matt Crandell (Winchester, Va./John Handley) was the top performer for the Bucknell swimmers on the opening day of the meet as he took second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.70.

Junior Ian Rawhauser (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), freshman Patrick Stummer (Futon, N.Y.) and sophomore Bradford Bennett (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) all turned in fourth place finishes for the Bison. Rawhauser swam the 200 free in 1:45.62, Stummer finished with a time of 16:56.97 in the 1650 free and Bennett recorded a time of 59.25 in the 100 breast.

The Bison had a two-three-four sweep in the one-meter dive as senior Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) posted a mark of 267.40 to capture second, senior Jake Thompson (Freeport, N.Y./Chaminade) followed with a mark of 229.65 and freshman Jeffrey Manning (Bringhurst, Ind./Carroll Jr./Sr. High) was fourth. Manning's mark of 223.95 landed him fourth in the program record books.

The team of sophomore John Peterman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor), classmate Grant Steadman (Richmond, Va./Collegiate), Bennett and Rawhauser finished fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:27.39 while the 400 medley relay squad of freshman Mark Kawczenski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Hanover Area), Bennett, senior Mark Kretzer (Northport, N.Y./Harborfields) and Rawhauser finished fourth as well with a time of 3:36.08.

Bucknell will continue to compete in the Bucknell Damon's Trials/Finals Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 20, with the trials beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m. in Kinney Natatorium.
