Bucknell's Joey Kuterbach Named Patriot League Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week

Oct. 16, 2007

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior goalkeeper Joey Kuterbach (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood), of the men's soccer team, was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday. The co-captain posted his fifth shutout of the season on Saturday at Army as he won the award for the second time this season.

Kuterbach recorded three saves against the Black Knights, as he helped extend Bucknell's unbeaten streak to seven games. Kuterbach faced 19 Army shots in the victory.

The shutout helped Kuterbach climb into a tie for fourth place on the Bison career list with 15 in his four-year career. He is now tied with Kevin Meyer, who played at Bucknell from 1980-83. Next on the list is third-place Mark Wrigley, who had 19 career shutouts.

Kuterbach is also moving up the Patriot League career goals-against average chart. He now owns a 0.92 GAA, good for fifth place in Patriot League annals.

Overall this year, Kuterbach owns a goals-against average of 0.73 with 40 saves and a save percentage of .816. He passed the 200 career save plateau Saturday at Army and now has 201 in his career.

Kuterbach and the Bison will be idle until Sunday, Oct. 21, when they will travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face Colgate. Bucknell, Colgate and American are in a three-way tie for first place in the Patriot League with matching 2-0-1 conference records.
