Bison Baseball Team Sweeps Big Red to Improve to 5-2 on the Season
March 3, 2001 LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell baseball team improved to 5-2 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Cornell at Bucknell Field this afternoon. The Bison battled back in the opener to win 8-7 in eight innings, and then went on to win the nightcap, 4-1. After the Bison scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, Gregg Farmery pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win. Senior first baseman Russ Lindberg was the hitting star for Bucknell with a 3-for-4, four-RBI performance. Sophomore R.J. Grant pitched five strong innings in the nightcap for the Bison to pick up his second win of the season. Lindberg smacked his fourth home run of the season, and senior co-captain Brad Gething had a triple. Senior catcher Pat Cann was 2-for-3 in the win. Bucknell and Cornell will square off in another doubleheader tomorrow at Bucknell Field. First pitch is at 12:00 noon. |
