Palo Alto, CA - The Brown women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-7 decision to #18 Stanford in its first of two games out in California. The Bears are now 1-3 overall, while the Cardinal are 5-1. Stanford took a 1-0 lead just 49 seconds into the game, but the Bears quickly tied the contest 28 seconds later on a goal by junior Katie Russell (San Francisco, CA). The two teams traded goals again with junior Bekah Rottenberg (Colrain, MA) netting a goal for the Bears at 1:31, and Stanford knotting the game at the 2:28 mark. Sophomore Sarah Passano (Baltimore, MD) netted her first of two goals at 8:24 to give Brown a 3-2 lead, but the Cardinal reeled off four goals over the next 3:36 to take a 6-3 lead at the 12-minute mark of the first half. Junior Christine Anneberg (Denver, CO) notched her first of two goals just 16 seconds later, however, the Cardinal scored six more goals before half-time, taking a 12-4 lead at the break. Passano struck first in the second half, as the two teams traded goals during the first 13 minutes of play. Also scoring for the Bears in that span were Anneberg and junior Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL), who netted Brown's last goal of the game at the 42:01 mark. In goal, sophomore Julia Southard (Manhasset, NY) made six saves for the Bears, who continue action on Wednesday, March 26, facing Cal at 4:00 p.m. PST. Half Time TM Goal (Assists) Score |
